- Q&A | Team Thornsson
Q&A 1 Why should I spend money on a coach when I can find a pre-written workout plan online? A workout program you find online will coach the athlete in you based on your time-based goal for an upcoming race. It will not take into account your current fitness level and your everyday life. We are athletes but most of the time we have other roles to play with responsibilities and time commitments (parent, spouse, student, working professional). A coach takes your current fitness level and those other roles into account. By continues communication and adaptation of your program we will better be able to reach your full potential, minimize injuries and enjoy the process. 2 I am new to running or/and I'm not "fast", can I still have a coach and why should I invest in one? You don't have to "earn" a coach by running a certain time or milage. A coach is for everyone who wants to invest in their interest, especially a beginner who doesn’t have any experience in the sport. By hiring a coach, you can spend more time on doing rather than planning and trying to understand the science of the sport. Together we will learn about what works best for you. Running is not just about running faster, it is about doing it safely and enjoy the process in the best possible way. 3 I already have a running program but I need help with strength training and/or race day planning. Do you offer that? Yes, I offer only strength training programs where we focus on strengthening your weaker muscles and sport specific muscles. I will teach you proper form and can offer in-person or video session if needed. I also offer one-on-one calls for your upcoming race. Do you feel like you have done the training but are unsure of how to pace your race or plan your nutrition intake during the race. I will help you get that confident you need for race day. 4 Why should I have a coach during off-season or when I don’t have a race on the calendar? Consistency, consistency, consistency! Progress happens over time, that’s why we want to try to stay as consistent as we can. Off-season can be a time to work on your weaknesses and things you don’t have time to do in the months leading up to a big race. Off-season is your opportunity to raise the floor and be fully prepared for race season. Q&A 5 What is your cancelation policy? One full month notice. 6 Will race day pacing and nutrition planning be included? Yes it is included in the personal run coach package and the 12 weeks program. I also offer this to non-Team Thornsson athletes by request. 7 Can I pause my personal run coach service? No, than the 1 months notice apply. Do you cancel your service you can always come back if I have space for an additional athlete at the time. 8 What happens if I get injured? Your monthly coaching services will continue but we will adjust your training program based on the recommendation from your physiotherapist/doctor. That's the benefit of a personal coach, we can adapt the training program based on the new circumstances.
